Soccer field

Khanh: I have really missed you and my family since I come to America. I have tried to keep my face happy but actually painful in my heart. I knew I lost a big family, losing my mom and you-my deer friend. I know you are still living there where we used to live, but the Pacific Ocean has separated us thousand miles. It is hurt to not have you with me. It is hurter when we can’t have the good time as we used to have. It is something that makes me feel life is meaningless. Yes, life is meaningless without you. Have you ever felt that you lost anything since I was gone?

Thanh: I have had the same feeling that you’ve had. Friendship plays a very important role in our lives. I lost you-my best friend. However, I have always kept you in my heart and old memory just flashes back in my mind time after time. I know you are not around me anymore, but I still can imagine the way you move and the way you talk right now. I still come to the soccer field everyday, but without you. I saw others playing on the field and I thought you were still some where among them. I could hear you yell with joy every time you scored. Oh well, it was just my imagination. However, it is real, isn’t it? It is real because friendship is forever and exists deeply inside both of us. Do you agree with me?

Khanh: I totally agree with you, my friend. Although I have made many friends in America, I still think about you all the time and want to share with you all my happiness or sadness that I can’t share with anyone else. That’s why we are best friends. No matter what I do or think, I still can’t forget the soccer field where our friendship connected. I still remember the first month I had been in America; I had missed you and the soccer field so much. I was alone walking to a soccer field in Richland College. However I felt myself so lonely and sad. There was a soccer field, but you were not there to play with me. I knew. I exactly knew you were not there at the moment, but I didn’t know why I still came to the field then came back alone.

Thanh: Maybe you had tried to have the old memory come back to you. I know you will remember me every time you see a soccer ball. I know there is something we will never ever forget. Why don’t we just keep it in our minds as a wonderful memory in our lifetime? Our friendships will never fade away, but more connected. We will see each other soon if you have a chance to come back here. Then we will have a good time as we used to have. Keep in mind that the soccer field is meaningless without you. …..2004
